Why did you pick the name NewsAmmo?
Mainly because it’s short, memorable, and the domain was available. We support the 2nd amendment, but the site isn’t about guns or ammunition. We started the site in August 2018.
Why did you create NewsAmmo?
We wanted an easier but complete way to keep up with conservative news. We all have a few news websites we tend to visit most, but that doesn’t show the whole picture. For example, there are 28 news feeds on NewsAmmo. No one is going to visit 28 websites for news every day, but if we have a preview of the headlines we can see which articles we are interested in reading.
Who is behind the website?
A few friends who live in Texas and Nebraska. We decided to keep our identities private, in this crazy political climate! But we can say we’re normal everyday people. We rely on word of mouth from our readers, so if you enjoy NewsAmmo please share it with your conservative friends and family.
How did you design the website?
The site was designed to also look good on mobile devices from the beginning. There are 3 columns on the site, and each one flows into the next on a phone or tablet. The letter font used (Nobile is its name) was chosen because it appears larger than most fonts and is very easy to read. Overall we wanted to keep the design simple but packed full of content.
Why don’t you include every conservative website?
There are a TON of conservative websites out there. Out of necessity, we aggregate the most popular and most useful sites. If a site is not included that doesn’t mean we don’t like it, we just have to narrow them down to a manageable sized list.
What is the best way to use NewsAmmo?
All headlines are links that will take you to the articles. You can click on any link and it will take you directly there, or you can right-click and open in a new browser tab. On a phone or tablet just hold down a link for a couple of seconds and then tap on “open in new tab” (if you would like to also keep NewsAmmo open). This also applies to the YouTube Channels, Radio Shows and Websites sections.
With Trump’s Twitter you can watch videos inside the site or also make them full screen if you prefer. Garrison Cartoons can be viewed full screen also, just click on the image. You can always get to the home page by clicking on the NewsAmmo logo at the top. There’s also a back to top button in the lower right-hand corner.
Were you trying to copy the Drudge Report?
Nope. I was never really a Drudge Report reader. In fact, I didn’t realize until after NewsAmmo started that Drudge also has 3 columns on the website. We didn’t look at or know of any other conservative news aggregators either before making NewsAmmo. We just wanted to put conservative news in one place. We later (through trial and error) learned the wisdom of having everything on a single page as Drudge does. We tried a video page and some others but people barely used those pages. So one page it is!
Our goals when we started had nothing to do with competing with Drudge, in fact for several months we had the Drudge Report newsfeed on NewsAmmo. But over time we realized how anti-Trump and liberal it was becoming so we had to remove it, and now we welcome readers from Drudge who are tired of that. We have a lot of respect for Matt Drudge and his site’s longevity, but “for the record” we didn’t set out to compete with him.
