I wanted to personally thank everyone who has supported NewsAmmo through one or more of our past fundraisers, and also explain why I recently made the decision to add a limited number of ads to the site.
Your past donations genuinely mattered. They helped cover operating costs and kept the site going during a period when advertising was not providing that support. Those donations helped keep NewsAmmo going and are a big part of why the site is still here today.
Over the past four years, I have generally held two fundraisers each year. But the numbers have made it clear that I can’t keep relying on fundraisers long term.
For example:
- The July 2025 fundraiser received 25 donations.
- The New Year’s 2025 fundraiser received 7 donations.
- The July 2026 fundraiser received just 5 donations.
Just as importantly, many of those donations have consistently come from the same small group of generous readers.
I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped, but I don’t think it is fair or realistic to keep returning to the same people every six months and asking them to help cover the site’s expenses.
That is the main reason I decided to try advertising again.
The goal is not to cover the site with ads or make it difficult to use. I have intentionally kept the number of ads limited. The goal is simply to create a more dependable source of ongoing revenue so the site can support itself without relying so heavily on fundraisers.
I also completely understand that some readers strongly preferred NewsAmmo when it was ad-free. If the addition of advertising means you would rather not donate in the future, I completely respect that. I certainly don’t expect anyone to view ads and still feel obligated to donate.
Most of all, I don’t want anyone who donated in the past to feel that their support was unnecessary or unappreciated because the site now has advertising. The opposite is true. Your support helped keep NewsAmmo online during the years when it needed that help, and I am extremely thankful for it.
My hope is that advertising can now provide a more sustainable foundation going forward and reduce the need to continually ask readers for financial support.
